This Privacy Policy explains how SambaGo ("the app"), developed by Viratsoft, handles information when you use it. By using the app, you agree to the practices described here.
In short: SambaGo shares your phone's folders and syncs your files directly between your phone and your own computers or NAS, over your own network. Your files, your folder names, and your server passwords are never uploaded to our servers. There is no account, sign-up, or login.
Information We Collect
The app is designed to need as little information as possible:
Your files and folders — the folders you choose to share, and the files you sync, are read and sent only between your phone and the devices you connect. We do not upload, view, or store them on any server of ours.
Server and NAS details — the sharing name, username, and password you set for the SambaGo server, and the address, share, username and password of each NAS you add for sync, are stored only on your phone. Passwords are encrypted with a key kept in the Android Keystore. They are never sent to us.
Folder access — SambaGo uses Android's folder picker, so it can only reach the folders you explicitly allow. You can take this access back anytime in the app (remove the share) or in your device settings.
Network information — the app reads your Wi-Fi and network state, and your phone's local network address, to show you the address to connect to and to know when the network is available. This stays on your phone.
Notifications — used to show that the server or a sync is running, and to tell you when a sync needs attention.
Feedback — if you use the in-app Feedback option, the star rating and the message you type are sent to our server so we can read and respond to it, together with your phone's make and model, the app version and the app's package name. Only submit information you're comfortable sharing.
Who Can See Your Shared Files
When the SambaGo server is on, devices on the same network that sign in with your server username and password (or as a guest, if you turn guest access on) can see the folders you shared, and change them if you gave write access. Use a strong password, turn guest access off if you don't need it, and share only the folders you want others to reach. Sharing and sync traffic goes between your own devices; it does not pass through us.
Background Use and Permissions
Internet and network state — to connect to your NAS or let your computer connect to your phone, to load ads, to check purchases, and to send feedback.
Foreground service, wake lock and battery optimization — to keep the server and long syncs running while the screen is off. A notification is always shown while they run.
Start after restart — to start the server or scheduled syncs again after your phone restarts, if you have turned that on.
None of these permissions is used to collect personal information.
Advertising
The app shows ads served through Google AdMob. Google and its partners may collect and use device identifiers (such as the Android Advertising ID), approximate location, and other technical data to serve and measure ads, as described in Google's Privacy Policy and Google AdMob's data disclosure. Where the law requires it (for example in the European Economic Area and the UK), the app first shows Google's consent form, and ads are requested only as far as your choice allows. You can change your choice later, and you can opt out of personalized ads in your device's ad settings ("Opt out of Ads Personalization").
Remove Ads Purchase
You can buy a one-time Remove Ads upgrade through Google Play Billing. The payment is handled entirely by Google Play. We do not see or store your card or payment details. To keep the upgrade working, the app saves a protected confirmation of the purchase on your phone and asks Google Play to confirm it again from time to time.
Third-Party Services
Google AdMob and the Google User Messaging Platform — ad serving and the consent form
Google Play Billing — the Remove Ads purchase
Google Play Services and Google Play in-app review — core Android platform services and the rating prompt
Each of these operates under Google's own privacy policy, linked above.
Data Sharing and Sale
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your files, folder names or server passwords with anyone. Feedback messages are used solely to improve the app and are not shared externally.
Data Security
Your files move only between your phone and the devices you connect, and saved passwords are encrypted on your phone. Network requests that go to our server (feedback) and to Google (ads, purchases) use encrypted (HTTPS) connections. Because the app connects to servers on your own network, the security of that network and of your NAS settings is also up to you.
Children's Privacy
SambaGo is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information (for example, via the Feedback option), please contact us and we will remove it.
Your Choices
Remove any shared folder, NAS job, or saved password inside the app at any time.
Notification and battery permissions can be turned off anytime from your device's App Settings.
Ad personalization can be limited from your device's Google Settings → Ads.
You can uninstall the app at any time, which removes all app-local data (settings, saved passwords, sync history) from your device. Your files themselves are not touched.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the revised policy.
